Six hidden Albany gems

West Cape Howe
There are too many hidden gems within the West Cape Howe National Park to narrow it down to just one. The Park protects a rugged coastline of isolated pristine white sand beaches. Exceptional scenic landscape of and black dolerite cliffs, rock islands, rugged limestone outcrops and 4WD tracks are what West Cape Howe is know for. Shelley Beach, Dunsky Beach and Torbay Head are among some of the spots within the Park to visit.
Waterfall BeachA few kilometres east of Greens Pool along a winding coastal road Waterfall beach is found. A small unique waterfall is one of the stand out features of the small secluded beach which boast the turquoise waters characteristic to the William Bay national park. During winter the fresh water pours out over weathered rocks, down across the beach and out into Madfish Bay.
Mt Barker Lookout
A ten minute drive from Mount Barker town centre will take you to the Mt Barker Hill Lookout which boasts views uninterrupted views of the Stirling and Porongurup Ranges to as far south as the Albany. The lookout was upgraded May last year by the Mt Barker Rotary to increase sensational views.
Sharp Point
The rugged coastal views and limestone cliffs of Torndirrup National Park are stunning. The lookout sits atop a big cliff and boasts magnificent views of the Green Islands, Eclipse Island, and the coast towards The Natural Bridge as well as Princess Royal Harbour and Albany.
Mt Melville (The Spark Plug )
This fantastic lookout offers 360 degree views from the summit of Mt Melville. The observation tower, locally known as The Spark Plug, is three-storeys high.
Stirling Range Red Gum Pass
The little known gravel road through the western section of the Stirling Range is a stunning drive. Accessible to two-wheel drive vehicles, the road winds through the ranges, with several worthwhile lookouts and beauty spots along the way.
